This year’s NFL draft class has some interesting names, but it lacks some of the higher-round star power that previous drafts contained. Still, there could be some values to be had, especially at the beginning of draft season where rookies tend to be ranked lower than in September. For those of you drafting early,  you can take advantage of these values before the rookie ADPs rise.

Headlining the rookies is Jeremiyah Love, rookie running back for the Cardinals. Though his talent is undeniable and he profiles as one of the rare three-down backs who can do it all, Love is likely to be mired in a three man committee backfield with Tyler Algier and James Conner. Both of those veterans will undoubtedly get their share (the Cardinals just paid Algier a lot of money). Love may eventually take over this backfield, but at least at the beginning of the year, he will likely disappoint due to lack of opportunities. He could potentially be a trade target in the middle of the season for forward-thinking managers.

Other than Love, really the only other rookie running back to pay attention to is Jadarian Price who finds himself without much competition in Seattle due to the departure of Kenneth Walker and the injury to Zach Charbonnet. Price could easily be the primary back at the start of the season for the super bowl champs who lean heavily on the run game.

Rookie wide receivers provide interesting value in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts. Carnell Tate is a 5th/6th round pick who would provide dividends if Cam Ward takes a step forward. Although perennial target-hog Wandale Robinson should command a lot of volume and there is still Calvin Ridley to contend with.

Jordan Tyson slots in as a WR2 in New Orleans which is a good spot due to the sub-par defense and surprising success of quarterback Tyler Shough. This team will be throwing a lot and Tyson could soak up a lot of that volume.

The Eagles are hoping Makai Lemon will fill some of the void left by A.J. Brown. I’m hesitant to draft Lemon at his current ADP, partly because I find DeVonte Smith to be a great value two rounds before him and also because I think the Eagles will make a concerted effort to get their run game going again this year. This profiles to be one of the lowest passing volume teams in the league so the opportunities just might not be there.

My favorite rookie wide receiver to draft is KC Concepcion. You can get him with one of your last picks so he is basically free but the upside is enormous. He is a true “jack of all trades” receiver who can catch screens, go deep and even return kicks. His coach compares him to Zay Flowers and he could be the WR1 for a Browns team that will need to pass a lot. If they can somehow get competent play out of their quarterbacks, Concepcion could be a huge value.

There are no rookie tight ends or quarterbacks that you need to worry about this year.
